WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIEND

11 July

Day 228: Ulaanbaatar

In the morning we went to see Naadam festival, which is the most important festival in Mongolia. The festival is about competition of the National Mongolian sports: wrestling, archery and horse racing. For the Opening the stadium was full of people and we spent 20 minutes trying to get through the crowds.

Juli wasn’t happy, strugling with the crowd and people were kicking him from all the sides. I was lucky and somehow, pushed from behind, got through the crowd and even got a seat :D

But finally we got through and saw the ceremony and some wrestling and archery afterwards.

We spend the whole day watching Naadam, and were ready for the final of World cup!! Khongor owner has rented a table in a huge bar, specially built to watch World cup and we went there together with owner's son (called Khongor by the way) and his girlfried.

Paul chose Spain to be a winner and we were totally anxious to see what happens.

There were around 10 Dutch in public, dressed with Orange and shouting for Holland, but most of Mongolians were supporting Spain, shouting "Ispan, Ispan!!"

It was a long stressful match, but finally in extra time Iniesta scored a goal!!! A winning goal for Spain.

On his t-shirt is written "Dani Jarque is always with us", dedicated to 26 y.o capitain of Espanyol football team, who died last year from heart attack.

We were crazy happy, celebrating the victory and Juli was even crying from happiness :D For the first time in history Spain became World Champion!!!

And here is Juli's collection of National press dedicated to the victory :DD

Brasil:

UK:

Portugal:

France:

Chile:

Paraguay:

US:

Mexico:

Romania:

Russia:

National press:

Argentina:

And finally, Italia, where Berlusconi said that Italy also won with this victory, since Spanish are also mediteranians and latins :D

It was funny that at the bar nobody was selling Spanish flags or any Spanish accessories to support the team. The only ones available were Brasil flag, Man United and Barça flags. So finally Juli ended up with FCB supporting Spain :D Well it makes sense, since there are 8 Barça players in the National team :DD

and this is a result :DD

And finally Juli's performance at Cafe Amsterdam in Ulaanbaatar: CAMPEONES, CAMPEONES, OE OE OE!!!
