Last day in Singapore and best restaurant in town

Day 53
Singapore

This was our last day in Singapore...same things, just hanging around the city.

We went around Bugis, local clothers market.

And finally at night, we went to Lee Kui (Ah Hoy) Restaurant, together with Tommy, his sister and his parents. This was one of the best restaurants in town, favourite of his parents.

This is Tommy's sister and mother.

And of course, Sun 79!

The food was exclusive and delicous. Seafood, crabs, mussles, fish...at the end we couldn't breath :D

Thanks to Tommy's parents who invited us to this dinner...now it is our turn :-D

Tomorrow we fly to Thailand!!!

Durian

Day 52
Singapore

It is Saturday and we thought about going to Sentosa, but it was raining heavily, so...no beach today.

Ok, so this day was dedicated to shopping...yeah, again! We decided to leave our troley bag at Tommy's place and buy a backpack instead (thinking about Thailand, Cambodia and Laos :-D Tommy took us to some local cheap market, where we succesfully bought a big backpack for 15 euros.

Later Tommy took us to try another delicious food in town:
- Laksa: coco, chili, noodles, mussles and egg - all in the soup
- Fried Kway Teow Mee: mussles, noodles, fish and vegetables

yum yum!!!

Ok, next stop a shopping mall to check net books prices. We ended up buying one MSI, pale pink colour (yes, it is for me), with 2GB RAM, and HD 320 GB for 240€, yep!

Next stop is Mount Faber Park, couple of beers and trying a durian....

Well, what can i say about the durian....

Sitio romántico para tomarnos las cervezas y probar el Durian…

It is smells like shit....and it is tastes like shit with onion :DDDD

Ok, long long day, but we still had to visit one special shop at one special food market....The shop was opening at midnight and was open only till 4 am...yes!! The special food they made, made people stay in line at night, just to have the delicious food. The market name is Hendersin Food Market and the place name is Shunli, and the food name is Wang Efu Yang Tohu.

Obviously there were no tourists there...since it is not on Lonely planet :DDD

IT show and Xmas lights in Singapore

Day 51
Singapore

Since I already had my thai visa and our flight was on 21st of December, we had couple of days to spend in Singapore doing nothing. So, I convinced Juli to go see "New Moon" movie...yeah, I am a fan :-D

We succesfully saw the movie at Cineleisure Orchard and went to meet Tommy and to go to the IT fair, where I was thinking to buy another laptop, for me, since we always fight for the one we have now..:-D

IT show was good, but we did not find any laptom around 200 euros or less (that is what we were thinking we will spend on the netbook). We have decided to give it another shot next day, and visit couple of shopping malls.

Together with Tommy we went to city center and enjoyed the Christmas lights.

Chinatown and Sun79 office

Day 50
Singapore

Today I got my passport with Thai visa and suddenly it started to rain really heavy...but it was still HOT!

We went to Vivo city where there was a service center for Canon. I wanted to clean my camera, it seemed to have some dust inside, but it was ok in the end. We had a dinner at Vivo city, our favourite soup with noodles and different kind of ingredients that you chose by yourself from the counter.

On the way to the subway station, we entered the National geographic shop, where Juli decided to experience a cabin with -20C inside...they were testing this way the special mountain clothers, which were sold in same shop :-D This is the picture from the outside (I took it).

And this is Juli from the inside:

Later at chinatown we met Tommy and went to have some delicious chinese food (Tommy knew all the best places to eat - as he told us: "eating is my hobby" :D

On the way to meet Tommy's dad, we stopped to take some night view pictures of Siingapore.

Vamos a Finally we met Tommy's father at the bar or at his "office", this is how himself was calling this place in chinatown :D Sun 79 is the number of his car, so everybody in the neighborhood knew, where the Suk79 office is! :D

Finally, after couple of beers in Suk79 office, we went home - to get some rest!!!

Visa for Thailand and party in Singapore

Day 49
Singapore

We decided to relax in Singapore, since we already have seen all touristic stuff first time when we visited this city in May 2009.

The most important thing I had to do this day, is to apply for my Thail visa, which supposed to be ready next day. Same day Luciano was arriving to Sinapore just for couple of hours, before heading to Pucket.

I submited the papers for the ambassy, we met Luciano and had lunch in a chinese restaurant with air con...finally!!!

After lunch, Luciano went to the airport to catch the plane for Thailand and we met Tommy at his place.

Tonight we were going to a couchsurfing meeting in a bar, where it was a happy hour offer - for 20 SIN dollars you could have free bar of beers and cocktails till midnight. So Juli was getting prepared to destroy the bar and drink all the beers :-D

The bar was cool, had dancing floor and drinks were ok.

At the end girls from the dance floor were invited to dance on the stage with the band, singing live...
And after on the bar :D

Finally, after happy hour was finished, around 1 am we went home (Tommy had to work too next day and we were kind of "happy" after lots of drinks for 20 sing dollars :-D

Arriving to Singapore

Day 47
Auckland – Sydney – Singapore

the plan for today:
- Breakfast in New Zealand (GMT +12)
- Lunch in Australia (GMT +10)
- Dinner in Singapore (GMT +8)

Yeah, 29 hours day :-D

Mel drove us to airport at 4 am (you are our hero!!!) and we took the flight to Sydney. We had to wait 9 hours in Sydney airport for our connection to Singapore. Surely we could go out to the city, but thinking that it will cost us both 80 australian dollars (two ways train to the city for 2 people), we decided to stay in the airport, work on the blog and use internet (which is free in Sydney airport by the way).

In the airport we went out to the Observation Deck, where Juli could connect the laptop to the plug and work on the blog and I was trying to have a nap :-D

We took a picture with Santa Clause in Sydney airport..yeah, too much free time haha

The best of our flight to Singapore was the brand new plane, Airbus A380, very silent and soft on the landing...impressive!!!

Finally we arrived to Singapore and met Tommy Chia, our CS guest in Barcelona and now CS host in Singapore :-D He picked us up in the airport in his father super posh BMW 520 and took us to grab a bite of delicious chinese food. Tommy's father was caught by police for exceeding speed level and now he can't drive for 3 years, so lucky Tommy got the car :-D

We ate at one of 1,000 Singaporean food courts and went home finally to have some sleep :-D
