Getting ready for Russia

12 - 15 July

Day 229-232: Ulaanbaatar

These days we were planning our trip to Russia.

Finally the route is the following:

1. 15 July – 20 July : Ulaanbaatar – Irkutsk (Khongor bought us tickets, 80 togrog/each – around 47 euros for 36 hours trip). We will stay with a couple from Couchsurfing in Irkutsk and plan to do one day trip to Baikal lake.

2. 20 July – 23 July : Irkutsk – Krasnoyarsk (the cheapest combination we could find on the internet webpage of Russian railways, the open vagon bed called plazkart. We are staying with a gril from Couchsurfing called Xenia)

3. 23 July – 25 July: Tomsk, also Couchsurfing (getting to Tomsk from Krasnoyarsk via Taiga, both plazkart tickets found on the internet on the Russian web pages – thanks God, I speak Russian!!)

4. 25 July – 28 July: Kazan (still did not find the best ticket combination, hoping to clarify when in Russia)

5. 28 July – 31 July: Pyatigorsk (getting there via Moscow, plazkart train) – visiting my mother!! Also hoping to explore Caucasus area, Elbrus – the highest peak in Europe.

6. 5 August – 11 August: Moscow (staying with a friend, Sveta, from Moldova and planning one day trip with her and her husband Max to Suzdal by car)

7. 11 of August fly back to Barcelona via Riga (night in Riga and connecting flight is on 12th of August in the morning to Barcelona. Spending night in the airport worth that, since the price ticket is only 90 euro each (Moscow-Riga-BCN) with Air Baltics J

Useful pages to check for the train schedule and buy tickets for Russian trains (I used it in Russian, and frankly in English it looks way too complicated :D
