Krasnoyarsk

21 July

Day 238: Krasnoyarsk

We arrived to Krasnoyarsk at 10 am, left bags in Luggage room (2 Euros for each bag – so expensive!!!) and together with Drago and his girlfriend Adriana went to walk around Krasnoyarsk.

And this is the famous chapel, which appears on 10 rubles Russian banknote

Adriana wanted to go to toilet and we stopped at the local bar. I asked in Russian the barman if she can go to toilet and he said yest, but if she pays 10 rubles. I translated and of course she said ok, but when barman has heard that we speak English and has understood the girl is a foreigner, he said she can go for free haha Russians, who can explain this character?? If you are Russian you have to pay for toilet, even if you are the client of the bar...but if you are a foreigner, you can go for free hahahaha

also at the bar we met a guy who was so excited to see real foreigners that he sat with us and told us the whole story of his life haha

Some sightseeing, some shashlyk at the park and just having some beers in a local bar, this is how we spent this day.

An interesting incident happened to us in the Orthodox Women Monastery. An Orthodox priest (in Russian – “pop”) did not welcome us to visit the church.

His comments were the following:

· Don’t take any pictures – we have enough sins and don’t need anymore!

· How could you wear underwear to the church and where did you get this white, ugly, curly legs! (to Slovenian guy who was wearing shorts)

· Join our Monastery, don’t worry, we forgive your sins when you cut your hair to be a monk (to me)

· Catholics are not real Christians, they are heretics and not allowed to Russian church (to all of us)

· I don’t care Catholic priest are married to God, for sure they have mistresses!

It was lots of fun indeed talking to him and in the end we left as friends and he even gave us his blessing.

And later some more sightseeing around Krasnoyarsk....even a restaurant called Catalonia :-DD

and Lenin monument of course :-DD

Later we met our host Xenia and went to her place. Tomorrow we decided to go to National park, Stolby, around 40 minutes by bus from Krasnoyarsk.
