Arrival to Irkutsk

17 July

Day 234: Irkutsk

We arrived to Irkutsk at 7 am in the morning and went directly to our Couchsurfing hosts: Konstantin and Anya. This young couple has never hosted before and I hope we were a good CS experience for them :-D

On the way we took Marshrutka, which is one of the most popular public transports in Russia - usually a Mercedes minibus where you pay around 25 euro cents for a trip.

And then some lunch at Kostya's and Anya's place - typical Russian food: pelmeni, vareniki and some salads :D

Then we went to walk around the city center. Another guy from Couchsurfing, Manuel, a Swiss studying Russian in Irkutsk, also joined us for the city tour :D

Irkutsk is not one of the nicest cities I have ever seen :D Lots of Communist architecture, chaotic structure mixed with some old buildings and the nicest part is probably the Angara river crossing the town. Btw, Angara is the only river which starts in Baikal, the rest end in Baikal.

Anya at Angara :D

and couple of beers with Manuel, Kostya and Anya at the river side.

One of the main attractions of Irkutsk are Irkutsk girls :DD This is intcredible how many really beautiful girls you can see on the street together with reallly ugly guys. One of the examples below - just look at her legs!!!

another one...and like this is the whole town!!

Later same day we cooked Spanish omelet and bread with tomato and of course some Sangria :-D
