Namtso Lake and Yang bajing hot springs

Day 165
Namtso – Lhasa

Today’s night was terrible, since Juli had strong aches in his back and couldn’t sleep at all. I did not sleep too, so at 7.30 we were perfectly awake to go out and check out the lake.

After taking some pills, it seemed that Juli can walk a bit and we went out. It was a clear sky, dark blue lake and white mountains (it was snowing the whole night). Beautiful postcard view!

I took some pictures, but Juli was feeling bad and we decided to leave immediately. We thought one of the main reasons of Juli’s pain is high latitude (the lake is the highest lake in the worlds, stretching at the latitude of 5,000 m over the sea level).

We left and it seems that Juli started to feel a bit better. On the way our guide proposed to visit hot springs. As soon as we arrived, me with Yu Dun went inside to check out the pools and they seemed nice to me. There were different pools, with hot water and different herbs and even milk!

After around 1 hour hot spring bathing, we were completely dizzy and it was time to leave :D Again our guide proposed to take us to some local place to eat, but the food there was not the best we had and the bill was too high for the food we had (160 Yuan, 16 euro for 5 dishes J

The problem was that we did not ask for the price before ordering, so as usual in Asia, after you finished your meal the bill will be higher than normal price. It was still not expensive, so we actually were willing to pay, when our guide started to fight with the owner of the restaurant and we finally paid only 80 Yuan. She was very upset and was telling us that those people were taking advantage on tourists and that they are not honest. It was my fist time to see a tour guide being so frank and honest, really, I was impressed:-D

Tomorrow we are supposed to go to Shigatse, which is the closest point to Everest Base Camp. Depending on how Juli will feel, we decide to go or to stay in Lhasa.
