Arrival to Mekong delta

Day 94
Phu Quoc – Rach Gia – Can Tho

Today we are going to Can Tho,the capital of Mekong Delta. Fist we go by boat to Rach Gia and then by bus to Can Tho.

After arrival to Rach Gia pier, lots of motobike drivers immediately come and offer to take you to the bus station etc. We decided to check if there is a better option that take a moto and it was! Just in front of the pier it was a mini bus station, where we could buy a ticket to Cantho.

The bus ticket that we bought, included a free pick up from the pier to bus station, where we took a mini van which had to take us to Cantho. At the bus station, women wearing pijamas...normal stuff!:-D

The mini bus was really uncomfortable and we had to squeeze as well as we could..

Finally, after 4 hours we arrived to Cantho, but the mini van did not take us to any bus station, as usual in Vietnam, they just throw you out on some street, where you have to find the way to get to the hotel paying a moto or taxi.

We bargained for the moto price and agreed with moto guys to take us to one of the budget hotels that we found on Lonely planet.

Air con room, with hot water for 7 euros, not bad!!

And the menu of the restaurant of our hotel looked promissing :-D

We walked a bit around the city....

It was getting late and we went to have dinner of the restaurants, recommended by Lonely planet. Below you can see traditional vietnamese pan cakes - ban xeo, which is crep filled with seafood and vegetables.

Traffic in Vietnam is terrible, especially motobikes - they are everywhere. The difference with Thailand and Cambodia is that there are no tuk tuks on the streets - welcome to Communism!

Local beer - Can Tho, for less then 50 euro cents :-D
