Ayutthaya and Xmas eve in Bangkok

Day 57
Ayutthaya – Bangkok

Today we go to Ayutthaya, one day trip from 7.30 am (pick up from the hotel) and back at around 4pm, total cost 500 baht (10 euros), per person, including lunch :-) At around 4 pm Andreea has to arrive to Bangkok also, so we will meet her when back from the trip at the hotel.

Waddi, our super guide, 1,5 meters tall and with really funny English ("forrow me", he was telling us,"forrow me") met us at the hotel and took to the min van - our transport vehicle to Ayutthaya.

We get into the van, Juli turns back and sees 10 asian people in the van..."Hello", he says, "Japan?"...NO, they were actually four people from Corea, two from Macao, two from Malasya, one from Philipines and one from Hong Kong. Well, no hope to start actually recognizing asian people from different countries :-D

Ayutthaya is the ancient capital of Thailand/Siam, which was partially destroyed by the earth quake and there are still lots of temples and Budha statues in this city.

We arrived at the fist stop and it was getting really hot outside, we were almost melting!!

Big Budha afterwards.

More Budhas and temples.

and more...

Something original, a Budha head, felt down from the statue and was captured by nature.

And some young monks in the area :-)

We had lunch and went to see another Budha...bigger the previous ones :-D

At the end we saw an elephant safari place, where elephants were performing some kind of show entertaining people and trying to get more clients for safari.

One of them was really small baby elephant, very cute :-)

We arrived to Bangkok, tired of 1,0000 Budhas, met Andreea at the hotel and started to get ready for the Christmas dinner. Two spanish guys, David and Dipu, that we met yesterday at internet place have joined us, as well as Yim, Thai girl from Couchsurfing. Andreea has took this picture :-D

The restaurant, Mayumpuri (Siam Garden Bar), was pretty fancy, but we decided to spend a bit more for the Christmas dinner, in the end it is not happening every day! :-D Cocktails, sea food, steaks for guys, it was 16€ per person - expensive for Thailand but really good price for Europe :-DD

After dinner we went to one disco bar in Khao san road, which was full of white guys dancing with local girls and other local girls waiting to catch some white guys...for money, of course. We stayed there around an hour and then went to the hotel, while David and Dipu have decided to try their luck in the club :-)
