Day 194: Penang
In the morning we checked couple of hostels on the same street and chose Tourist guesthouse, with clean and nice double room, with private bathroom, hot water, air con and free wi-fi, for just 40 ringits per night (10 euros).
Juli got some tourist leaflets from the tourist office, and we decided to do the Heritage walk, around old center, as it was recommended in the leaflet.
In the evening we met Ang Huah, from Couchsurfing, who is one of the most active Couchsurfers in Penang and also in KL. What a character!! Full of energy, Ang has introduced us to his friend, Bertrand (French photographer, living in Rio de Janeiro) with whom in the end, we became a really good friends.
Ang Huah couldn’t join us for late beers, since he had stuff to do next day, but he showed us the bar with the cheapest beer in the area – genious!!! We arrived to the bar, together with Bertrand, and we found this curious crowd – 3 Australians, 1 NZ, couple of locals – everybody quite a character!!!
We ended up playing some kind of quiz, questions and answers (something like “Who wants to be millionaire “ haha, drinking beers (finally acceptable prices, 4 ringits for a can of beer and 10 ringits for a big bottle – Skol, Tiger, Kingfisher).
