Day 193: Georgetown, Penang
We took the boat from Long beach to Kuala Besut at 8 am and then a bus from Kuala Besut to Penang, at 12.00. We arrived to Penang bus station at around 7pm and went directly to Chulia street, to one of the hostels recommended by Lonely planet, just in the heart of the old district of Penang.
The Blue Diamond hotel was not a very nice place with doubtful hygienic conditions. However, since we arrived late and it was dark, and we were tired after the long drive, we just decided to stay one night and tomorrow look for better place.
They had only one room available, it was actually a triple room, with double and single beds, private bathroom and fan, for 35 ringits (around 9 euro).
After dropping the bags, we went out to have some dinner and discovered that Chulia street had a night food market, full of food stalls with all kinds of food.
On the way, we found our hotel for tomorrow, called Tourist Guest House, air con room with private bathroom and wireless internet in the room for 40 ringits/night (10 euro).
Penang is especially famous for food, they tell the best food in Malaysia, and we were ready to discover it! :-D
Later in one of the bars on the street, we tried this beer - which was a bit sweet and tasted weird, but at least i won a small bottle as prize (win under the cup) haha
And finally the beer had acceptable prices - 4 ringits small can (1 euro), 10 ringits a bottle.
This night we saw Rafa Nadal winning his 5th Rolan Garros. Bravo, Rafa!!! :D
