Rotorua

Day 41
Rotorua

Jeff and Vicky our CS hosts, have couple of rules in their place and one is that we need to leave at 7:40 am when they take their son, Michael, to school.

Fortunately for us, Vicky had a day off and we didn't have to wake up early this day :-D However, for this day we planned to visit Wai-O-Tapu and at 10:30 to see geyser Lady Knox explode.

We took the car and Juli had to drive pretty fast to make it in time for the geyser. In front of our car on the way to waiotapu there was a car, going pretty slow and keeping Juli from passing line - which made him pretty angry about the girl driving the car :-DWe arrived in time to buy the tickets and imagine our surprise when at the entrance in waiotapu we met an English couple, Edward and Susie, we met in Fiji island, in Mana resort 2 weeks ago :-D But it was not the whole surprise, the car that Juli was angry about on the way to waiotapu was their rented car and the girl was driving haha

We made it in time for the geyser, at 10:30 a guy from stuff came and put some soap inside, when it started to explode. Around 11:15, we went back to waiotapu termal park to discover its volcanic pools naturally painted in different colours, due to the different minerals in the ground.

The park is covered by many different volcanic lakes, the colours are incredible and everything is bubbling :-D This pool is called "Artist palette".

And “Devil's pool” :-)

And “Champagne pooll” 100 meters deep and 72 degrees hot...anybody want to take a bath? :-D

After Thermal Wonderland, we took Edward and Susie to "hot and cold" pool we went yesterday with Marama.

Next stop - Zorb, that Juli wanted to try. There are two ways to do it: they tie you to the ball and leave you down the hill. Or they don't tie you, but put some water inside and you are sliding inside, wet and happy. Juli chose the first option :-)

Another long day was finished and we got home to cook a dinner and spend some time wtih our hosts.

After the dinner, we met Kylie and Megan and went to the Kai park, where everything was bubbling around :-D

We walked around the Rotorua lake, met Marama later and had a drink in a local Pub "Pig n’ Whistle".

Finally we went home and went to sleep. Tomorrow we needed to wake up at 7:30 and leave to Auckland.
