Potala palace and the way to Namtso lake

Day 164
Lhasa - Namtso

Pick up at our hotel at 10 am and we go to Potala palace. It’s a queue, security control, passport control and finally we have to pay 100 Yuan (10 euro) for entrance. Local people pay 1 Yuan by the way haha And the pictures inside the palace are not allowed.

The Palace from outside is stunning. Inside we saw two parts of the Palace – Politics part and Religion part, with all kind of saint statues of Buddha, former Dalai Lama tombs and holly scriptures. In every room there was a soldier/guardian checking out the visitors, besides that, those guardians were talking on the cell phone or making noise, which made the visit less spiritual, as I can say :-D

Again a guy was doing Buddhist prayers, together with a kid, who was actually tied to his arm...

After the Palace, our guide took us to a local Tibetan place where we had lunch (as usual some noodles, rice with beef, vegetables and tea – all for 65 Yuan, including our guide and the driver haha).

....and below is a special dedication from Serafin to my ex collegues from Coca-Cola haha (who can read that??)

It was a time to board a minivan and take a long, 5 hours drive, to Nam Tsu Lake, the highest lake in the world, which is situated at 4,900 m above sea level!!!

We arrived around 6pm, had some lunch and went to sleep early. The weather was cloudy and we did not take any pictures, let’s hope tomorrow will be clear :-D
