Day 185: Perhentians, Kecil island
After arrival to Tanah Merah, we took a taxi to Kuala Besut (50 ringits – 12 euro, for 1 hour ride) and then a jetty to Long beach (70 ringit two ways) on the Kecil island (small island in Perenthians).
The island was really beautiful, white sand and torques water, the only inconvenient was that the beers cost on this island like in Spain, haha – 10 Ringit for a 330 can of beer (2,5 euro).
In general, Malaysia is probably the most expensive country in South East Asia, besides of the fact, that the country is Muslim and the alcohol is extremely expensive.
Lemon grass chalet has really simple bungalows with one room, one double bed with mosquito net and a fan, with shared bathrooms outside. The cost of the bungalow was 45 Ringit (12 euro) for 2 people and 55 Ringit (16 euro) for 3. Around the bungalows and in the jungle, even on the beach, we saw many of huge lizards...aparently not dangerous for people :-D
Ok, after dropping the bags, all together we went to a “Spanish bar”, a beach bar where there was a mixed team of Spanish, Italian, French who rented the bar for the summer, cooking all kind of tapas and preparing best mojitos on the island :D
Ruben, Sergio and Laura have agreed with the “Spanish bar” team to get together all ingredients and cook a paella together, so first day of our arrival we were eating paella on the Malaysian beach :D
We had some drinks later in the evening, and finally tomorrow I was starting an Open Water Diving course, where Ruben was my instructor :D
