Day 95
Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City
A day before we bought tickets to HCMC in tourist office in the center of Can tho. As usual pick up from the hotel took us to the bus staion.
After 4 on the bus we arrived to Saigón. As usual, they droped us somewhere in the middle of the city, so we had to take a taxi to Pham Ngu Lao - area of budget accomodation. After long search, we found a hotel, central location, hot water and air con for 12 USD/night.
This area in Saigon is something like Khao san road in Bangkok. Lots of bars, restaurants, backpackers and travelers. It is very easy to meet people, to start conversation - since everybody here is a foreigner :-D
Just look at these cables!! :-D
Later, walking around, we found a local bar on the street and had couple of beers and some grilled seafood which was really good :-D
One place we needed to discover - famous Bia Hoi , the cheapest beer in the world - 1liter for around 50 euro cents :-D
There, in this bar, just 5 minutes walk from our hotel, we met American couple that we knew from Can Tho: Iain y Diane. This is the thing about traveling around South East Asia, you keep meeting people you have met in other places - again, and again, and again :-D
And if you are hungry, the easiest way is to buy a “bánh mì” on the street - a big sandwich with whatever you desire, for around 40 euro cents :-D
