Tomsk-Novosibirsk-Zelenyi Dol - Kazan

25 July – 27 July

Day 242 - 244: Tomsk-Novosibirsk-Zelenyi Dol - Kazan

We had breakfast with Denis and Masha and went to the station to catch the train to our next destination, Tatarstan Capital - Kazan. The most difficult journey so far on the whole our route in Russia.

It was impossible to find a direct route from Tomsk to Kazan at the reasonable price. All of “kupe” tickets cost around 7,500 rubles (210 Euro) per person and it was too much for us!!

So the solution was to break the route in different segments:

From Tomsk to Novosibirsk – plazkart cheap ticket (6 hours)

From Novosibirsk to Zelenyi Dol (I have found a train going to Adler and stopping at a station just 30 minutes from Kazan. The stop was just 1 minute :-D – plazkart (36 hours)

From Zelenyi Dol to Kazan – sitting place in a short distance train (40 minutes)

Total cost of the route in the end was around 3,000 rubles (80 euro).

We arrived to Kazan at 8 am, dropped the bags in luggage store room at the train station and went to walk around the town.

a combination between mislim and christian religions, mixt population and culture :D

We loved the Magnificent Kazan Kremlin (World Heritage site), central Baumana street and churches around.

Later we met our hosts Farida and Mansur and cooked a Spanish dinner at their place :-)

Around Tomsk and CS meeting

24 July

Day 241: Tomsk

Denis and Masha had to work in the morning and we went to explore the town by ourselves. Tomsk is not directly on Trans-Siberian route and it is not a big industrial city like most of the cities on the way - that is why we liked it so much!

Tatarskaya street with its old wooden houses.....

Lenin Square (like in every city in Russia, there is always a Lenin Square and a Karl Marx street :-)

and here you have Lenin himself :D

Denis called and said he is coming to meet us and show us one nice church.

And finally we went to a local beer factory, where Denis has organized a CS meeting...a perfect place! :D

and then we bought some beers and meet and went to the park to do bbq.
